Third Rock
(reverse collaglass with copper leaf)
3rd Rock was created to take advantage of natural light - and explores a recurring theme in my sculptural work: the natural universe and the passage of time.
The main focus of this piece is a hemispherical void within the cast glass - which gives an amazingly wide variety of colour and tone from within a single glass colour (in this case an amber red).
Around this, a very thin layer of opaque glass and patinated metal leaf acts as a partial block to the light coming through the other colours.
