Cityscape (reverse collaglass, laser cut metal screen, LEDs)
Cityscape was the piece created for my final degree show in 2005.
Many textured glass blocks - created using the collaglass process - are stacked within a laser-cut metal screen. These are backlit with LEDs, to highlight the different tonal and textural qualities of each individual piece of glass.
The work is based on the architecture, vibrancy and endless variation of large urban cities. In this case, the city is London - and the silhouette of the river Thames runs across the piece.
