Riverbed bowls
(Cast glass and pate de verre, fused, slumped)

The Riverbed bowls are what I term "phoenix" pieces. As a glass artist (any artist...) there are some things which don't work as you wished.  They need to be put aside, reconsidered - and finally reborn as something more beautiful.

In the case of the three RIverbed bowls, what went wrong was not down to a poor kiln firing or a cracked mould.  It was down to traffic...the original piece was run over when I was unpacking my car in a church car park!

Once I'd recovered from the original frustration, I was able to look again at the broken pieces - and over several new firings, used them to create these bowls.
