Illuminated Books

Although the Collaglass pieces work beautifully in a framed, architectural setting, I have used The Urbanites to explore a different approach. Here the pieces are enclosed within an "illuminated" book. This plays with the concept of nature being hidden or ignored within our urban setting - you do not appreciate the beauty until you care to look further.
As someone whose childhood dream was owning my own secondhand bookshop, I am excited to explore the use of the book format as a recepticle for glass. It will allow for a closer marriage between glass and print - and the incorporation of text.
