Drunken Drizzlers
(Recycled wine bottles with individual kiln-formed attitude)
I share my studio with George Jackson, another glass artist - who works using crushed bottles of various types and colours. This means that when he is in a crushing phase, there can be large numbers of empty bottles lying around.
Many people are now using recycled bottles - but they are generally flattened to make cheese boards, or slumped into moulds to make dishes. I was more interested to see what would happen when they were allowed to deform while standing.
This means that, unlike most kiln firings, I very much need to be in attendance. Once the temperature gets above a certain point, I need to keep opening and checking what stage of inebriation the drizzlers have reached!
