Decal Works
(Fused glass with trapped decals)
Starlings, Irises and Mars + Venus are all examples of work using fired decals (transfers). By limiting my designs to simple black and white silhouettes, the imagery works in a large variety of colours. The pictures here show some of the possibilities: platters, coasters and wall art. These "homeware" items are then completed using recycled packaging.
Once the initial design work is complete , the images are sent to a specialist company which prints transfers which can be fired onto the surface of glass. Another sheet of glass is then layered on top, and fused to trap and protect the image.
